We don’t translate menus. We verify your safety — in Japanese, with the kitchen.
SafeEats Japan was built for one reason: nobody traveling to Japan should have to choose between eating safely and eating well.
Japan has some of the world’s best food. It also has some of the most difficult food culture to navigate if you have dietary restrictions. Fish stock in vegetarian dishes. Gluten in soy sauce. Shared fryers nobody mentions. Staff who want to be helpful and say “probably fine” when they genuinely don’t know.
We’ve spent years helping foreign friends navigate this — sitting with them at izakayas, calling restaurants in Japanese on their behalf, watching them finally relax and enjoy a meal they weren’t sure they could have.
That’s what SafeEats Japan does. We call restaurants directly, confirm with the kitchen in Japanese, and give you a clear, honest answer — so you can eat at the restaurant you actually want to go to.
Not just the “safe” options. Any restaurant.
What Makes Us Different
Most services give you a list of vetted restaurants and leave you there. SafeEats Japan is different.
Tell us where you want to eat — the ramen shop with the three-hour line, the izakaya your hotel recommended, the sushi counter you’ve been looking forward to all trip — and we’ll verify it for you.
We speak Japanese. We understand Japanese food culture. We know which questions to ask, and we know how to get honest answers from kitchen staff rather than reassuring ones from front-of-house.
The result: you eat where you want to eat. With confidence.
How We Work
- You tell us where you want to eat and your dietary needs
- We call the restaurant in Japanese and confirm with the kitchen directly
- We give you a clear breakdown — safe dishes, dishes to avoid, what to watch for
- We create a Japanese allergy card to show staff when you arrive
- We stay on WhatsApp during your meal, in case anything comes up
¥3,000 per restaurant. No surprises.
